Wartenberg is a market in the Upper Bavarian district of Erding and a member of the administrative community of the same name. Wartenberg is between Erding (13 km) and Moosburg (8 km) on the eastern edge of the Munich gravel plain. Around 1105 came the Wittelsbach Counts Palatine in possession of various goods and lands to Strogn and Sempt and built on the site of a well already in the 10th or 11 Century existing fortification to 1116/17, a castle on the “monte Wartenberc”.
