The Lounge Chair and Ottoman are the associated draft of the American designer couple Charles and Ray Eames from the year 1956. After several years of development, they presented the 1956 chair and stool, which they has developed for the furniture manufacturer Herman Miller.
In Europe, the chair is produced since 1957 under license from vitra. The chair and the associated ottoman have a basically same construction. The choice of materials and the used colors are changed over time. The furniture is part of the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art, New York. The Lounge Chair was often used as a requisite in films and television productions.
