The Carrozzeria Ghia SpA is an Italian design studio and specialized in the design of design studies and prototypes of cars. The company was founded in 1921 by Giacinto Ghia in Turin. Ghia made his name as a car body designers of extravagant vehicles whose platform of Alfa Romeo, Fiat and Lancia came. After the Second World War they were looking, the US large series manufacturers as the target group because of their own market for costly studies was not receptive enough. They came to terms with Ford, designed the studies for the Lincoln Futura, the Chrysler Norseman and then produced in large series Karmann Ghia on a technical basis of the VW Beetle. Ghia always produced only single pieces or small series like the Ghia 450. In the 1960s, Alejandro de Tomaso took over the company’s fortunes. During this phase, the De Tomaso Pantera emerged. After De Tomaso had his shares in 1970 sold to Ford, featured the renowned name “Ghia” the top Features of Ford models. Today Ghia engaged in the development of studies design for Ford.
